Lay Leader Event Planning Committee

About the Committee

The Lay Leaders Planning Committee was formed under the guidance of His Grace Bishop David to prepare for the first-ever Diocesan Gathering of Lay Leaders. This historic initiative brings together clergy and lay leaders from across the Diocese of New York & New England to build a shared vision for ministry, service, and unity.

Our Work

The committee began meeting weekly on June 23, 2025, and continued faithfully every Friday through October 31, 2025. These meetings were held via Zoom and included the following clergy and lay representatives, serving under the leadership of His Grace Bishop David:
♰ Hegumen Fr. Angelos Girgis
♰ Hegumen Fr. Andrew Awad
♰ Father Mina Kaddis
♰ Father Gregory Saroufeem
♰ Father Cyril Antonious
♰ Father Antony Andrews
♰ Father Abram Soliman
♰ Dr. Akram Rafla

Over the course of more than ten planning sessions, the committee:
♰ Articulated the vision, goals, and purpose of the Lay Leaders Gathering
♰ Finalized the invitation process, RSVP system, and event logistics
♰ Designed the event program, hospitality plan, and speaker lineup
♰ Created and launched the official event website: NYNELayLeaders.org
♰ Developed a framework for future diocesan-level lay leadership committees
♰ Coordinated with over 33 parishes to ensure the participation of board members, heads of service, major contributors, youth leaders, and women leaders

A Word of Thanks

We extend our sincere gratitude to every member of the Planning Committee for their dedicated prayers, consistent collaboration, and tireless efforts. Their commitment to excellence has made this historic gathering possible. May the Lord richly bless their labor in His vineyard.
